Offboarding a project

When a Skiff 2 app is retired, its GCP project and everything Skiff created for it need to go away. Offboarding is a two-part process: you open a PR, and a Skiff admin removes the project.

Steps

  1. Open a PR that deletes your <name>.project-config.json from skiff2-projects/ in skiff-commodore.
  2. Ping a Skiff admin skiff-users channel

What is removed

  • The GCP project ai2-skiff2-<name>, with every service, secret and bucket in it, including the app's own Terraform state. GCP keeps a deleted project recoverable for 30 days; after that it is gone for good.
  • The <name>.apps.allenai.org, <name>.allen.ai and <name>.pandajungle.org DNS records, and any custom domains pointed at the project.
  • The SKIFF2_* variables on your repo. If the repo is archived they are left in place, which is harmless.
